OK, I know we all have our own opinions of why he fell for her, but I will hear from you guys first and my opinion later.
Why do you think Erik loved Christine?

Re: Erik/Christine
Hum, my version is qyite different.
I don't think he was like in love with her at first. He saw an other lost soul who was in sadness, so he decided to tell her he was her father and I think at firs he just wanted to father her and swaddle her and love her like a father. But then she began to be a young woman and he sees her in a different light, not like in a fatherly way, but as a lover. And he wanted her so much that it became unhealthy, like an obsession, so that is how I think it happened. And he really loved her voice when her voice matured and became beautiful!
As I haven't read the book in a LONG time, I don't know.

Re: Erik/Christine
Whoa, you've thought this out, LL. I'm taking a middle ground on this one.
I think he saw her when she first came to the opera house, after her father died. He heard her sing, thought she was good, but waited until her voice had matured a bit. Giving her lessons, he fell in love with her. His obsession stemmed from his past environments, yada yada yada. Stuff like that.
(I feel like I sound weird. lolz)

Re: Erik/Christine
But, in GL's story, I remember it being different, I can't remember.

Re: Erik/Christine
Well, there are so many versions of Phantom that it's hard to tell what version did what. It's confusing!
