Was He Crazy??
Okay i know we all love our beloved Erik -believe it or not, I do like him, just not as much as Raoul-, but the truth is he was a rather disturbing stalker... (don't kill me). seriously he watch Christine through her mirror, how could that not be creepy? I know none of us like to think of Erik like that..... but seriously... he was a STALKER!! *faints*

Re: Was He Crazy??
EXACTLY!!!! I love Erik, even though I love Raoul WAY more!, it's VERY disturbing to think about it....but I think that he never went too far, I think he might have been a gentelman, even though there was ALOT of touching going on!

Re: Was He Crazy??
I think he was a gentleman at first, like watched her write letters, and stuff like that.
He was insane though, not that I blame him, everyone either ran away screaming of tried to kill him when they saw his face, he was his only friend (of course there was the Persian, but before him) I think I'd be insane also.

Re: Was He Crazy??
Any way you look at it, Erik was a victim of his environment(s). If the people around him hadn't been so cruel all his life, them maybe he would've turned out all right. And this whole story was set over a hundred years ago, too. If there had been an Erik today, he probably would've just had plastic surgery, and be done with it all.

Re: Was He Crazy??
In Gl's story, he practically has a death head! That's kind of hard to fix! But, he was crazy, I think that though, he wasn't too insane at first (I'd actually rather an insane Erik than a noninsane Erik, lol), but he just nuttier and nuttier after Raoul and Christine.

Re: Was He Crazy??
Well, even in the novel, Leroux comments on fake noses. And now that there are face transplants, today's doctors could probably make him look . . . not too horrible. There'd probably be some weirdness left, but better than what he began with.
Oh, and he'd be on, like, every talk show. With that much surgury, he'd become a celebrity. Today's world is strange, huh?
And when you get down to it, there are many places in the Leroux book that portray Erik as child-like. A spoiled child, but still. Even though he's something like forty or fifty.
Like I said: a product of his environment.

Re: Was He Crazy??
yes, but he could've been different. I will quote my second favorite song my my second favorite band: Within Temptation from their song Angels
This world may have failed you, but it doesn't give the reason why you couldn't have chosen a different path in life.
He was a crazy psychopath (no offense) who killed ppl, whop didn't really need to be killed.
I still love him to death though. lol
