The Phantom!!
The Phantom is such a mysterious character, every time you see him, you automatically want to know more about him. He's also quite romantic, but in almost a creepy way. Remember that mannequin he made of Christine? Well, that's flattering and all, but still a little weird how much she really looked like her! lol,,,i'm not being mean, i promise!!

Re: The Phantom!!
Yeah, I thought that was a little weird, too. I mean, come on. I love the guy, and he loved her and all, but he was a wee bit obsessed, wasn't he?
He loved her a lot, but it's still a bit nuts to go around making lifesize and quite realistic dummies of the girl he likes.

Re: The Phantom!!

Re: The Phantom!!
Yeah, I'd be kinda creeped out, but then I'd think: Hey, this guy likes me so much that he'd make a mannequin of me!
Yeah, I know. I have a twisted mind. lol

Re: The Phantom!!
idk,,,maybe it creeps me out a little more that he's so much older than she is,,,,he's madame giry's age, right??? well, that would make him old enough to be her dad or sumthing,,,idk,,,,,creeepy at first, but still sweet!! haha
his voice definately makes up for his obssessive nature tho! haha

Re: The Phantom!!
In the book, he's Giry's age, and supposed to be in the movie, too, but . . . he looks about 30, instead of 40-ish.
Re: The Phantom!!
Well, duh! Gerry Butler WAS in his 30s when he was Erik!
But, I'd flick out the pepper spray if I had a guy like Erik that was THAT obsessed w/ me.

Re: The Phantom!!
Hey, Raoul-Lover! *points accusing index finger at Little Lotte*
Anyway, well . . . yeah. In real life, I'd be like, "Call 911!" or something.
But this is fantasy, which I prefer over reality, I've got to admit. And in my fantasy, I'd pick Erik over Raoul. It wouldn't matter that his face was so scarred. Heck, if he was a war veteran, we'd all be giving Erik the Purple Heart and calling him a hero!

Re: The Phantom!!
Um, WHAT IS WRONG WITH LIKEING RAOUL?! personally, because he is 'disfigured' in the movie, actuall, more like a sunburn, is NOT the reason why I don't like him, he was a murderer (he killed people who had done NOTHING to him! Well, Javart DID deserve to be killed, but way off topic, anyway), he decived Christine more than once to get her to love him, when she CLEARLY didn't! He could have been abusive (no joke, these people at the beginning of school last year gave us a sheet that said your boyfriend could be abusive and gave a list, a lot of it reminded me of Erik), he had problems, he loved her obsessively, which isn't usually the best relationship or love. AND he was ready to make Christine choose THE WORST way between he and Raoul (even though he eventually let her go, it still was wrong). That is enough of my rant on that, for now
And in either way, Fantasy or Reality, Erik is not the best person for a realtionship!

Re: The Phantom!!
There's nothing wrong with liking Raoul, just so you know. Whoever you want to fantisize about, just go ahead.
Even thought I agree with you (shock!!) that Erik was just a tad obsessive, it was still his form of love. Twisted, yes, but love.
And wasn't he a genius? Don't genius' sometimes have a different way of thinking than the rest of us? This guy was the product of his own environment. It wasn't his fault that no one every really loved or cared about him.
That being said, even though I love her, I want to smack Christine upside the head. Even though she chose Raoul in the end ( I must admit that that was a much safer road to travel), she still could have cared more about him. Yes, I know that she did care for him, and maybe she even loved him.
But . . . well, I think you get the picture.
And anyway . . . who the heck is Javart? Is it that guy with the tongue at the carnival, the one who kept Erik in a cage?
Or are you imagining a crossover, one where the Phantom characters and the Le Miz characters meet? (I have to say, that would be something)
Because no where, in the book, musical, or movie, is there a character named Javart. There's a character in Le Miz named Javert, but none in Phantom.
In conclusion: Erik rocks!!
I rest my case.

Re: The Phantom!!
hummm... You've never read Susan Kay's novel of PotO then? Cause that is the name that she gave the dude. (P.S. it's mostly about what happened before and after he met Christine and his POV during the book when he was in love w/ Christine)
And I DON'T rest my case!
Yes, he was a genious, a very good musicion, BUT that STILL isn't a reason to do what he did! (BTW A TAD bit obsessive?! I think you are seeing the world w/ rose tinted glasses! He was OVERLY obsessive! *looks up* God, WHY didn't you bring reinforcments?!) When geniuses have a different thinking than us, it's usually for like, music, art, poetry, things like that that can come very naturally for them! They don't think like murderers! And I know what it's like being not loved or care4d for, you don't see me killing people (not yet at least)! I think Christine DID love Erik, alot of girls would, in fact, I did at first, (shocked, but he blew it when he killed Joseph!). But she first loved him as a fatherly figure, then she loved him as her Angel of Music, maybe her love, but Erik messed up when he Killed Joseph. Personally, I think she WOULD have gone w/ him had he not messed up his chances! But, to her, after she saw he ws able to kill someone, how do you think she might have felt? Scared, afraid, and I am sure other emotions, but Raoul had comforted her, he was kind to her, she fell in love!BTW innocent by standers, move out the way, it could get ugly!

Re: The Phantom!!
Okay, first of all, I hope you'll now note my use of italiacs with the word "tad." Meaning that I was being sarcastic, and that he was being overly obsessive. (did you notice it that time?)
I see the world through my own eyes, and yes, I might be naive, but I still recognize when people are being totally insane.
Erik was being totally insane!!!
But that still doesn't mean that I don't love the character and root for him. It's hard to explain. Maybe a motherly instinct? lol.
Here's another thing: In The Phantom of Manhattan (I just want it to go on record that I absolutely HATE that book. It's completely stupid.), the author spoke with Andrew Lloyd Webber, and in the musical, the Phantom didn't kill Joseph. ALW said that Joseph was a drunkard (does anybody use that word anymore? haha), and he killed himself.
So there. *sticks out tongue* lol

Re: The Phantom!!
Then WHY do we see Erik kill him in the movie? AND in the musical you see Erik's sadow over when Joseph falls down (saracsticly) maybe Erik was trying to help him! NOT!

Re: The Phantom!!
Well, there are a lot of things about the movie that are different than the musical. The whole chandalier thing at the end? It happened at the end of the First Act in the musical. And the whole swordfight between Raoul and Erik? Yeah, didn't happen at all in the musical. Erik used fire or something to try to keep the two from escaping.
Re: The Phantom!!
Well DUH! I know that, but still, I don't think Erik was HELPING Joseph whne we see his shadow over his body in the musical!

Re: The Phantom!!
Well, we'll just have to ask Andrew Lloyd Webber, won't we? (Ha ha. I know I'm probably wrong. Still, I won't stop defending Erik! )

Re: The Phantom!!
Ha ha. You should totally tell that to some of my friends. They'd laugh in your face.
But thanks for the compliment, though. It seems that I have more of a backbone on the Internet than I do in real life. Not sure whether that should scare me or not . . .

Re: The Phantom!!
hahahaha, maybe it's b/c 1) your very passionate about Erik is a good guy or 2) you aren't talking to me in REALLIFE, so, maybe it's not as intimidating.
