I do like the Persian. In the novel, he's the one with brains, while Raoul pretty much is useless. (no offense)
But the musical cuts him out, and changes Madame Giry from a bumbling box-keeper to the one with all the knowledge. The only mention of anything Persian is the music box, with a monkey dressed in Persian robes on it. I kind of wish he was in the musical.
